The award ceremony took place on December 22, 2022, at the Hilton Hotel, where mentors were recognized for their unwavering dedication and coaching efforts toward their mentees throughout the year, ultimately achieving the program’s objectives. Our CEO, Kidist, was among the mentors who received the Meri Award at the ceremony. Meri is a leadership and mentorship program that aims to provide critical leadership and employability skills training to young female senior university students/new graduates through soft skills and job readiness training, with the intention of tackling youth employment. The graduates of this program will serve as ambassadors whilst echoing the message of developing young professional leaders in Ethiopia. The objective of the Meri program is designed to introduce and match recent female university graduates with experienced Ethiopian career and businesswomen, complemented by a leadership development program that is twelve weeks long and an annual forum, Meri Medrek, aimed at building a growing network of mentees and mentors. Kidist Gebreamlak is the Co-founder & CEO of Zero-One-Zero-One PLC, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; A consulting, designing, training, and implementing company working on Digital Skills and Business Development, with a vision of cultivating an innovative and competent 21st-century workforce and thriving businesses led by the youth & women. She is also the Senior Center Manager of the Center for Innovative Drug Development and Therapeutic Trials for Africa (CDT Africa), Addis Ababa. Kidist served as the Board President and CEO of STEMpower Inc, USA, where she led results-driven, thriving projects across Africa. She held Consulting and Program Support positions at the World Bank Group, HQ, DC, USA. Kidist is strategic, and empathic and thrives on projects requiring diverse cultural, social, economic, and political knowledgeability. She is a passionate believer in the untapped potential of African youth and women as creative agents of change to realize the Africa We Want. To that end, Kidist resettled in Ethiopia to do her part towards the inevitable thriving of the continent and its people.

Zero One Zero One Tech & Entrepreneurship in collaboration with Addis Ababa Science and Technology University launched the very first project-based and human-centered Soft Skills Training and Coaching Program. The training program is a Transferable Skills Training aimed towards identifying and filling the gaps related to student career and academic development. Zero One Zero One launched the training program for first-year students through an online registration platform and went through an in-depth screening process, announcing and welcoming the registered candidates for an orientation session about the training in the university compound. The training program was initiated with its first class session on November 16, 2022, with the first module of the program on Studying Skills after all preliminary preparations were successfully completed The Program is aimed to help students acquire practical knowledge and skills to further develop their career and academic paths during their 5-year stay at the university. Zero One Zero One designs its training and coaching sessions by incorporating the Project Based Teaching Methodology. The Students are able to work on specific projects to further develop their skills in addition to their regular academic schedule at Addis Ababa Science & Technology University. The training will focus on improving the university students’ practical knowledge and skills, which will further help them in their academic and professional journeys. The training and coaching programs focus on practical and hands-on learning that includes topics such as Studying Skills, Time Management, Communication Skills, Habit Formation, Emotional Intelligence, Entrepreneurial and Business Skills, Design Thinking, etc… In our training programs, we designed projects and activities that are practical and hands-on in order to have an engaging training session with the university students as well as to deliver a module that integrates the students’ context. This approach to our training and coaching sessions will help trainees conceptualize content topics more effectively. The first topic of our training program is “Studying Skills”. The course was designed considering 1st-year students in their starting years of university to equip them with the necessary tools and techniques and help them practice applying effective learning and studying skills in their university class sessions regarding their academic curriculum. We are honored to collaborate with AMCHAM Ethiopia to deliver a project-based training session on Team Building. The program included management-level employees as trainees from companies such as Coca-Cola and Ethio Chicken. The training session design considered the demography of our trainees by relating our module with real life and practical situations they could face in their professional journey. The training session was developed focusing on interactive engagements, with several activities and projects tailored to our trainees. The content focused on how effective teams are built and how we maintain good team chemistry. Key to the process of Team-Building is the nurturing of internal relationships. Healthy and productive relationships are integral to high-performing teams. Team Building is an integral part of any organization since the quality of the company’s output is affected by the effectiveness of the Teams and the Employees within them. When employees feel that they can openly discuss ideas and work together to improve processes with both tenacity and honesty, they become more invested in the organization and its people.
